Yes, I finally got to go back. My husband had the luck to go back a few years ago for a whole month for work, but we couldn’t make it work for me to join him either financially or with my work schedule. When he mentioned another work opportunity in May that would get him to Belgium coupled with my remaining airline credit from a cancelled flight last year, now was my time. We spent the first few days in Brussels where he worked and I wandered.

I had to try to keep up with my WSET 3 class while we traveled, and I was still recovering from an extremely busy spring semester at the day job, so I didn’t get to see nearly as much as I’d hoped, but even just this taste of Brussels was amazing.
After the work portion wrapped up, we headed into Germany. I had found us a rental in Wiesbaden, where we lived the first half of our time in Germany. Despite the years, it was so familiar and really did feel like a homecoming.

We had a long list of places we wanted to check on, Weinguts and restaurants we loved. We started off with a return to our absolute favorite street in Wiesbaden, only a 15 minute walk away. We always called it Italian Alley as there are a number of Italian restaurants lining both sides. You truly cannot choose poorly there.

And, of course, tiramisu to finish. Not pictured, so many lovely wines with it all.
